Spider Bite – This is a severe brown reculse spider bite. This person shows signs of a severe infection which could be MSRA or Mersa, a staph infection. A minority of brown recluse spider bites form a necrotizing ulcer that destroys soft tissue and may take months to heal, leaving deep scars. The damaged tissue will become gangrenous and eventually slough away. The initial bite frequently cannot be felt and there may be no pain, but over time the wound may grow to as large as 25 cm (10 inches) in extreme cases. Bites usually become painful and itchy within 2 to 8 hours; pain and other local effects worsen 12 to 36 hours after the bite with the necrosis developing over the next few days.

Shot with a little Flip Video camera on a tripod from 12 miles away. The launch after sunset and civil twilight made for a beautiful backdrop. Near the end of the video you can just barely see the booster rockets dropping away. The loud bird call you here shortly after liftoff is by the guy whose condo we were at for the launch. Interesting “bird” indeed. Survived both a nail gun to his head (still needs a note from doctor to get passed TSA screening) and a bad limp due to a brown recluse …
